The latest addition to the Lismore Castle Arts Collection is two slabs from the historic Berlin Wall. Visitors to Lismore Castle Gardens will be able to appreciate this latest installation in the Lower Garden. This acquisition was made by Lord Burlington during a trip to Berlin in 2014. The 2.5 tonne concrete segments were lifted over the 17th-century estate walls and will reside in the castle gardens.
Speaking following their arrival, Lord Burlington said he felt “extremely fortunate to have acquired such a powerful reminder of one of the most significant episodes of European history of recent years”. A bit of European history on Ireland’s Ancient East.
