Hive (est. 2009) is a not for profit arts space dedicated to the emerging arts. The art studios & gallery are run by artists for artists, focusing predominately on group activities which competently provide artists with exposure, experience, networking, accreditation & sales/income.
“Since 2009, Hive has led the vanguard in Waterford City’s Emerging arts scene, providing a requisite platform for arts practitioners during their apprenticeship in the contemporary art world. In this time our studios have been occupied by top emerging talents including Paul Hallahan (former Director & Co-Founder of SOMA), Andrew Kenny (Technician at Wexford Art Centre & Co-Founder of Studio 9), Gemma Kearney (Technician at Sample Studios) & many more. In the summer of 2011 Hive extended its facilities to include a gallery space which has since welcomed more than 200 artists to the city of Waterford. Now in our current location, at the very heart of the city on 25 Michael Street, Hive boasts 5 exhibition rooms, 7 studio spaces, 2 screening rooms, stage, an arts library & workshop space.”
